Wow. It's the end of July already? No joke. The work moves on and just takes you with it. 8 weeks out here, and things are getting more and more comfortable all the time. So! Onto business.
An Experience:
The Lord really blesses us to find those that we're looking for. We got a referral last week to go visit Tim Castle, a member who had run away from home and just recently come back. Walking to his house we found him outside cleaning his car, and proceeded to have a long discussion with him about the Book of Mormon and the Bible, how they work together, etc. We were similarly blessed in looking for this kid Steffan, who is apparently really hard to get ahold of. We found him right outside his house on a swing, and had a good 30 minute chat with him about God. These interactions are not immediately successful, but we feel really blessed whenever we see these opportunities line up for us.
An Update:
Personally things are going really well. Sister Wayman and I get along super well, quote movies and Disney stuff all the time to each other (Manon), as well as random Youtube videos that she's never seen (her favorite is when I quote the Antoine Dobson one, 'You are so DUMB. You are really DUMB. For REAL.')...but let no one say that we aren't focused. ;) We've been super blessed with more people to teach and lots of time spent finding out what's going on with lots of people who aren't attending the ward. I gave a talk in church yesterday that went pretty well and hopefully will spur the ward on to engage with missionary work in their day to day lives.
And awesome of all awesomeness: Heather is doing SUPER WELL! She GAVE ME HER LIGHTER yesterday and told us that she was done with cigarettes, one of the biggest things that was keeping her from baptism. Boo yah! She'll be meeting with the Mission President sometime this week (hopefully), and that should serve to help us start planning for her baptism. Awesome.
Also, I lost my camera cord (at least temporarily), so no pictures until I find it/find some USB device that's compatible with my funky Sony SD card. Sorry. :/
A Thought:
1 Nephi 10:19
"For he that dilligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round."
One of the most powerful aspects of my testimony is that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. If he spoke to us by revelation once (Prophets in the Old Testament, and through Christ), he is bound to always speak to us by revelation, and he does that today. This is clearly evidenced by the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and by the words we continue to receive from the Prophets and Apostles. God is an unchanging God, and is there to find if you "dillgently seek."
